ContractorFinder

For contractors

This page explains why your business may already appear on ContractorFinder, what claiming does and does not do, and what you can change. It does not sell anything.

Why your business may already appear

We compile factual business and licensing information from official government records and other permissible public sources, and publish a basic listing. We do not list every licensed business, and a business missing from the directory has not been excluded for any reason we assessed.

If your listing is marked as unclaimed, you did not submit it and you have not endorsed it. That label exists so nobody mistakes our summary for something you wrote.

What claiming means

Two kinds of listing right now

Connected listings (3 of 28 today)

These already have a matching profile on the listings platform. Their profile page carries a Claim this listing button that opens that exact listing, where you press Claim this business. The platform shows less detail than your directory profile does, and prints "Plan Type: Free" on unpaid listings — that is normal and changes nothing here.

Not-yet-connected listings (25 of 28 today)

These appear in the public directory but have not been connected to the listings platform, so there is nothing to claim online yet and their profile pages deliberately show no claim button. Please do not use the Add Your Business form for a listing that already exists — that form can only create a new, separate record, which would leave you managing a duplicate.

We cannot promise when a listing becomes claimable, and nobody can pay to move up that queue.

Correcting information

Tell us if a listing has the wrong business or contact details, shows a business that has closed, moved, or been sold, is matched to the wrong licence record, duplicates another listing, or uses your business identity without authorisation.

Request a correction — email hello@contractorfinder.com with the web address (URL) of the profile page and a short description of what is wrong. A person reads every message and reviews it by hand. We do not charge for corrections, we cannot promise a turnaround, and sending a message does not by itself mean a change will be made.

Two limits worth stating plainly: we do not remove accurate information on request, and licence fields are corrected against the issuing authority's record rather than on request. We do not run licence checks on a schedule, so the date printed on your profile is the only reliable indicator of when we last looked.

What a paid plan could let you supply

Claiming by itself is free and does not add the fields below. These are contractor-supplied marketing content, held separately from official records and clearly distinguished from them. They belong to the paid plan described on our pricing page, which you cannot buy today.

We will not promise features the listings platform does not support. If it is not in that list, assume it does not exist yet.
