Terms of use
These terms explain what ContractorFinder is, what it is not, and the rules for using it and for claiming a listing. By using the site you agree to them.
1. ContractorFinder is a directory
ContractorFinder publishes business listings compiled from publicly available and official sources, including records published by government licensing authorities. It is provided for information only.
ContractorFinder is not a licensing authority, a certification body, a trade association, a referral service or a screening service. A listing is not an endorsement, recommendation, rating or guarantee. We do not determine, certify or monitor whether a contractor is currently licensed, insured, bonded, qualified or in good standing, and we do not inspect work, take up references or investigate complaints.
2. Check any contractor yourself
You are responsible for deciding whom to hire. Before you hire or pay anyone, confirm the licence directly with the authority that issued it, ask for proof of insurance from the insurer, and check references and reviews. Our guide explains how: How to check a contractor before you hire.
ContractorFinder is not a party to any agreement between you and a contractor, and is not responsible for a contractor's work, prices, conduct or availability.
3. Licence information
Where a listing shows a licence or registration number, it is reproduced from a record an issuing authority published, as identifying information. It is not a ContractorFinder certification or badge. A credential can lapse, be suspended or be corrected without the listing changing; the authority's own record is the current one. The absence of licence information is not a statement that a business is unlicensed.
4. Accuracy, corrections and removal
We try to keep listings accurate but cannot promise that every detail is complete or current. If something is wrong, tell us at hello@contractorfinder.com with the address of the listing page. Corrections are free. A person reviews every request; we cannot promise a turnaround, and a request does not by itself mean a change will be made. We review removal requests, for example for a closed or duplicated business, but we do not generally remove accurate information, and nobody can pay to have accurate information removed.
5. Claiming a listing
- Claiming is free and never requires a purchase.
- You may claim a listing only for a business you own or are authorised to manage. We may ask for proof, and we may decline or reverse a claim that we cannot confirm or that turns out to be wrong.
- Claiming lets you ask for business details to be corrected or updated. It does not let you edit licence details, which come from the issuing authority.
- A claimed listing is not an endorsement, review or ranking, and claiming does not change how listings are ordered.
- Online claiming on our separate listings platform (listings.contractorfinder.com) is not open yet; when it opens, that platform has its own account terms.
6. Paid services
There is no paid ContractorFinder plan at launch, and placement or ranking is not for sale. If promoted placement is ever offered it will be labelled on the listing and governed by our advertising disclosure. ContractorWebsites.ai is a separate, optional service with its own terms; buying it does not affect any ContractorFinder listing.
7. Things you may not do
- claim, or try to claim, a listing for a business you do not own or manage, or impersonate a business or a person;
- send us false information or documents;
- use contact details from this site to send spam, to harass anyone, or for any unlawful purpose;
- copy the directory in bulk, or scrape or crawl it in a way that burdens the site, other than for ordinary search-engine indexing;
- interfere with the site's operation or security, or try to reach anything that is not published.
8. Links to other sites
Listings link to businesses' own websites and to other services. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies.
